How It Works
A load-velocity (LV) profile maps the linear relationship between the load on the bar and the velocity at which you move it. Heavier loads = slower bar; lighter loads = faster bar. This relationship is highly consistent and individually unique.
By collecting velocity data across multiple loads — ideally spanning 50–90% of your 1RM — the builder fits a linear regression to your data. The slope and intercept of that line describe your personal LV profile. The estimated 1RM is where your regression line intersects your individual minimum velocity threshold (MVT).
The R² value tells you how well your data fits the linear model. An R² above 0.95 is excellent and indicates a reliable profile. If R² is low, add more data points at different loads to improve accuracy.
